Many of us have
enjoyed the warmth of log furniture either as the décor of a lodge,
summer cabin by the lake or deep in the woods.
The massive wood logs gave us a sense of security while we relaxed; now
we want to recreate this same feeling.
When starting our decorating process, we first have to let our
imagination take us back to those blissful times, not that you have to
actually go back to that precise cabin to create the right rustic lodge
décor for you home. We simply want you to allow your imagination and
creativity to take over. This will enable you to express yourself
completely through decorating techniques, furniture, and accessories
such as, pinecones, wrought iron accessories, or even black bears to
assist you in creating the perfect lodge or cabin theme.
Wood has an amazingly warming affect on a home and room. You can enhance
the look of your wood flooring with a braided or lodge rug. These very
stylish rugs are available in an array of colors fit perfectly with any
lodge decor. In addition, for those of you who don’t have wood flooring,
these area rugs can be placed on top of carpeting to add color, texture,
and warmth to any room.
The walls of many lodges and of course cabins are rich wood, if you wish
to achieve this same effect you don’t have to completely remodel your
home. There are other options you can consider such as faux painting
techniques, wallpaper that has a log or wood pattern, and even paneling.
There are other wall covering ideas that you can choose from, including
the appeal of rustic stone. This is an especially beautify when used as
an accent wall in a room. The use of cultured or manufactured stone
works best, providing the look and feel of real stones but without the
weight and they are much simpler to install.
To help continue the lodge theme you want to select rich, warm colors
for your curtains, furniture coverings, and wall covering, which will
further establish the warmth and cozy feeling. Of course, you can
incorporate plaids, and prints into your décor with pillows, curtains or
by placing a plaid throw across the back of a chair or sofa.
Other accents you can use are metal lamps and wall sconces to provide
the perfect lighting source to enhance your lodge décor theme. You can
also use such accessories as switch plates and outlet covers in you
décor.
You can create the lodge theme décor, which is also referred to as
rustic décor, throughout your home, or only in one or two rooms. Rustic
furniture blends perfectly with all country décor, as well as colonial
décor. Whatever style you prefer, rustic furniture will transition well
from one room to the next.
